The survey in this section of the Gobi Desert was conducted in 2018 along a 737 km stretch of what is known as the "Northern Wall," located in northeastern Mongolia near the border with Russia. During the survey, 72 structures were identified, organized into 42 clusters. In the following years, several excavation seasons were carried out in three of these clusters.
This page focuses on research conducted along the Northern Wall. It begins with an interactive map displaying the results of the field survey. Clicking on a site on the map opens a window with information and photographs.
Further down the page, you will find interactive maps and additional data from three of the excavation clusters along the Northern Wall line. The map allows you to navigate between the different excavation areas, with photographs of the sites and finds updating dynamically as you explore.
